A Blast to the Past

What memories do you have of your summer vacations growing up?

One of mine is the drive-in theatre.

While staying at the small man-made lake near Kyle called Clearwater Lake we discovered a drive-in theatre that was still being used during the summer. It brought back memories of being a kid and as a family venturing off to the drive-in. When there are six kids it is more affordable.

After entering the drive-in my children took off to play on the merry-go-round and run around until the movie started. The first time my children saw Mulan was on the big screen at the Clearwater Drive-in. Watching my children run around brought back many great memories and some not so great memories. I get motion sickness and really should have stayed off the merry-go-round as even my siblings were mean and would not stop and let me off. Brothers and sisters…. Needless to say it was the last time at a drive-in that I went on anything that went around and around and around.

The Clearwater Drive-in was built in 1957 and is 2 miles north of Kyle on highway 4 and then ½ mile east on highway 342.

Looking for something different to do this summer while staying in Kindersley? Take your children or grandchildren on an adventure to see a movie at the drive-in. Check out the movie listings and dates at www.clearwaterdrivein.com. Take a step back in time and remember the many different adventures that were had at drive-in movies. The all night horror shows and ………. What are your memories?
